Available on ITUNES, AMAZON Back in the early nineties, when new singles like Garnett Silk, Luciano and Everton Blender were busy reintroducing roots and reality themes back into dancehall, no one really knew to describe what these reggae messengers were doing. Some called their music either ragga/ roots: others referred to it as contemporary roots - i.e., roots music created using a Bob Marley blueprint, yet with a modern expression that could only result from life in the current political and social climate. In the ten or more that have passed since, several artists have emerged to take up leading status in the contemporary roots field. Most of these great talents are represented here, whilst others are assuredly names of the future and already gaining widespread attention in their native Jamaica.
